"The VBAC Doula" for the Charlotte Area
All women deserve the feeling of empowerment, pride, and joy that comes with
childbirth. I believe in empowering parents with thorough, evidence-based childbirth
and VBAC education classes so they can make informed choices about how they bring
their baby into the world. Every woman, every baby, and every birth is different
and unique. Therefore each family’s preferences, choices and decisions are to be
respected and honored. As a doula, I believe in providing a calm, caring, and nurturing
environment for a woman to labor peacefully and confidently.
As a cesarean mother myself, I am passionate about VBAC. I have done an incredible
amount of research on the subject, and believe VBAC to be safer than a repeat cesarean
for most women with a previous cesarean. Because of this, I concentrate my doula
and education services on VBAC couples. About 75% of my doula
clients are VBAC mothers, and in 2010 93% of my clients gave birth vaginally. In a climate
where the cesarean rate is 33.5%, I think this speaks volumes about what evidence-based
education and true, honest, compassionate support during the childbearing year can
do.
