"The VBAC Doula" for the Charlotte Area

Angela Hathaway enabled my wonderful, beautiful natural birth!! When we first met Angela, I knew she
was the woman I wanted to support me during my labor and birth. I was a high risk pregnancy, and it was
thought that I'd need an induction, and Angela was there, behind me, enabling me to make my own choices
regarding my prenatal care, as well as my daughter's birth. During labor, Angela was with me for my entire
16 hour labor. She recognized that my daughter was posterior and helped me to turn her. She made sure
that nothing was done during my delivery without my consent (ie - the nurse and doctor assumed that I
wanted my water broken and she said "they're going to break your water, are you ok with that?"). I wouldn't
have made it without Angela's support and we will not ever have another baby without Angela by my side.

We are so happy that we made the decision to have a doula assist us with the birth of our daughter and even
happier that we chose Angela to fill that role. She was knowledgeable, experienced, empathetic and accommodating.
Because of Angela, we were able to meet the goals we had outlined on our birth plan and have the birth experience

12 years ago, I had a very traumatic c-section that I don’t even like to think about. It’s hard to believe how a
birth experience can affect a woman’s life so deeply, until it happens to you.
I really wanted this time to be totally different. I didn’t want another cesarean. So I searched until I found
the right doula for me. Angela was so warm and answered my questions with patience and I felt so encouraged and
supported. My homebirth was an awesome, life-changing experience. I highly recommend her to anyone who is expecting!

The night I went into labor one of my 2 year old son went into emergency brain surgery. My husband needed to stay with
our son so he wouldn't be by himself. I have no family in Charlotte and without Angela there, I have no idea what I
would have done. She was not only my doula in a very difficult situation, she was also my friend. I am eternally grateful
for her support at a time that was wonderful and stressful at the same time!
